OwlWatch

NightShift — after-hours intrusion and rodent activity monitor

One night watchman for burglars and rats — through walls, no cameras.

Readiness Shared-family mapped

Mapped to a shared offline runtime family and usable with a recording or compatible ESP32 CSI stream.

Evidence Frontier Unvalidated concept

An early research proposal with no capability-specific product validation yet.

Runtime family Intrusion event

Entry or unexpected-presence event relative to a learned empty-space baseline.

When no ESP32 is connected

No compatible ESP32 stream is connected. Use the bundled Hospitality recording; it demonstrates the shared Intrusion event runtime, not independent proof of this capability.

Intended capability

Pilot this intended outcome through the shared Intrusion event family, then validate it against site-specific ground truth: One overnight system that both detects human intrusion through stockroom walls and flags rodent activity along floor-level runs in restaurants — two alarms, one mesh, zero cameras.

This describes the intended outcome. Readiness is shared-family mapped, evidence is class C, and a catalog mapping or recording is not proof of this outcome at a real site.

Solution blueprint

See the environment before installing it.

This exact kit is one of 191 first-class designs. It includes geometry, objects, nodes, wording, scenarios, installation, limitations, and catalog-bound readiness.

A related Hospitality scene

This is one recorded vertical scenario. It is not separate validation of every capability in the catalog.

01 The physics

Human intruders produce unmistakable gait Doppler and RTI track through walls (through-wall detection proven). Rodents are small-RCS movers, but at night the scene is otherwise static, so their fast erratic Doppler bursts (5-40Hz body dynamics, floor-level links) sit far above an empty-room noise floor — detectability rests on nighttime SNR, not target size.

02 Shared processing path

Nighttime rolling baseline -> adaptive PCA + MVE anomaly on any deviation -> branch: RTI tracking + gait Doppler = intruder alarm; sub-body-scale sporadic Doppler bursts localized to floor-level link pairs = pest flag, with CUSUM over nights building an activity map for the pest controller.

This is a capability design path. Components may be shared with other catalog entries; it is not presented as a unique algorithm.

03 Validation plan

ESP32-wall for through-wall intrusion; rodent branch needs own hardware: instrumented enclosure with live rodents (pest-control partner) measuring detection rate vs empty-night false alarms across 30 nights.

04 Commercial hypothesis

'Know about the rats before the health inspector does' — overnight intrusion + pest surveillance for the restaurant owner, one subscription, no traps-with-cameras.
