DryCore

Corrosion-Under-Insulation Moisture Sentinel

Finds moisture soaking into pipe insulation — the hidden start of expensive corrosion.

Readiness Shared-family mapped

Mapped to a shared offline runtime family and usable with a recording or compatible ESP32 CSI stream.

Evidence Frontier Unvalidated concept

An early research proposal with no capability-specific product validation yet.

Runtime family Presence

Calibrated motion and presence score from CSI variance and change statistics.

When no ESP32 is connected

No compatible ESP32 stream is connected. Use the bundled Industrial recording; it demonstrates the shared Presence runtime, not independent proof of this capability.

Intended capability

Pilot this intended outcome through the shared Presence family, then validate it against site-specific ground truth: Early detection of moisture accumulating under pipe insulation and behind cladding — the precursor to CUI, the single most expensive hidden corrosion mechanism in oil & gas.

This describes the intended outcome. Readiness is shared-family mapped, evidence is class C, and a catalog mapping or recording is not proof of this outcome at a real site.

Bundled recording

A related Industrial scene

This is one recorded vertical scenario. It is not separate validation of every capability in the catalog.

01 The physics

Dry insulation (eps_r ~1.1-2) turning wet (water eps_r~80, plus conductivity sigma rise) drastically changes local attenuation and adds excess propagation delay on paths passing the pipe run. The change is spatially localized and monotonically slow — exactly the signature a drift detector wants, and invisible to any Doppler method because nothing moves.

02 Shared processing path

CIR delay/amplitude per path (stage 1) -> NeRF eps_r/sigma material map differenced against the commissioning map (stage 5) -> per-pipe-segment compartment model with CUSUM over weeks (stage 6) to separate rain-transient wetting from persistent ingress.

This is a capability design path. Components may be shared with other catalog entries; it is not presented as a unique algorithm.

03 Validation plan

Own-hardware: insulated pipe mockup between ESP32 nodes, inject measured water volumes (50-500ml) into the insulation annulus, verify detection threshold and localization to the wetted segment; control with equivalent surface-only wetting that dries out.

04 Commercial hypothesis

A standing CUI watch on every insulated line between turnarounds — sold to the integrity/inspection manager as 'find the wet insulation before it becomes a wall-thickness finding.'
